How do you empower other women using your platform?
Using my platform Life’s Diary LLC, I work with women that are starting over from divorce, unhealthy relationships or women that are ready to live life their own way. When working with women, I go beyond empowerment to actually finding solutions, goals, a plan so that woman can heal and build.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Stop trying to fit in! You were born to stand out and there is beauty in that. Also, don’t you dare lose yourself over a boy, he is not worth it, the right one won’t expect that from you. Focus on your grades, it is really hard to complete college, while having a child, while dealing with life issues. Enjoy your youth! When it’s done, it is done, have fun, travel, make mistakes, learn from them and never settle for less than you deserve, and honey, you deserve the best!
Who/ what inspires you?
God is my first source of inspiration. I have made so many mistakes in my life, and by all intents and purposes, I should not be alive right now. I made a lot of what should’ve been fatal decisions but here I am. Not only am I here, but I am thriving and for that I am grateful. Then my daughter, as I am always striving to be a positive role model for her first, lastly, every woman that spoke life into me and never gave up on me. I am always inspired by them to build other women the way they spent a massive amount of time building me.
How do you overcome adversity/ challenges?
My faith in God is my main source of overcoming adversity. Why? Because not only am I instantly reminded of the challenges/adversities that God has seen me through, I am reminded that adversity does not last forever. Then I never give up, if I have to slow down to recharge my mind and spirit through the adversity, I will do so, but NO MATTER WHAT, I KEEP GOING!
What is your definition of a girl boss?
My definition is less focused on money and more focused on character and ambition, when you have character and ambition, the money will come. To me a girl boss is always trying to master herself, she knows who she is, she knows what she wants and she doesn’t stop or settle until she has the life she deserves. Honest, loving, firm but fair. She doesn’t tear down other women and carries herself like royalty.
Female empowerment is:
Reminding women of their power and strength! Supporting women and celebrating women. Educating young girls and women, teaching them that they can have the life they want and NO ONE has the power to stop them. Teaching women that you indeed have a voice USE IT!
What advice would you give to someone wanting to start a business? Pursue their passion?
Start with what you love. Entrepreneurship is not as sexy as social media makes it. I no longer have a schedule and since becoming an entrepreneur I have been exhausted, but I LOVE what I do! And I will not stop until working for myself becomes full time and I can do what I want. If you are only focused on the money, you will quite when life gets rough. So, start with what you love then build from that. Make the money, don’t let it make you.
What quote speaks to you?
“The beauty in rebuilding your life, is that YOU create the blueprint, YOU lay the foundation and you can build it your own way!” Chamar Logan
How is your work/life balance?
I honestly don’t believe in work/life balance. I believe that we adapt to whatever we need to adapt to and rework our lives depending on that. Here’s the deal, the minute you find a balance something else gets thrown in, then you have to deal with that. I believe in adaptation and self-care
Self-care, what’s your favorite form?
I take one day a week for self-care. The entire day, usually a Sunday. I sleep in, go to an afternoon church service, come home, take another nap. I soak in the tub with music playing, and then I give myself a steam facial and a deep cleaning mask. Essentially, I rest, I rest my body and my mind. How do I rest my mind? I love watching makeup channels on YouTube and bingeing on Netflix shows with a glass of wine and popcorn.
